Dr. Ashley Tarasen is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology in Dermatopathology, Anatomic Pathology, and Clinical Pathology.
She currently serves as the medical director for EmeritusDX (formerly PathMD) and Wulf Hess. Dr. Tarasen has experience as a medical director in CAP-, COLA-, and CLIA-certified clinical laboratories, overseeing laboratory operations with a focus on diagnostic quality and regulatory compliance.
Dr. Tarasen completed her Dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the Department of Dermatology, where she divided her time between seeing patients in the dermatology clinic and examining dermatopathology slides.
Originally from California and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Dr. Tarasen entered medical school early through a combined pre-med/MD program. During her residency at Albany Medical College, she trained under nationally and internationally renowned dermatopathologist Andrew Carlson, MD, and also served as Chief Resident. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and delivered platform presentations at the American Society of Dermatopathology, the International Society of Dermatopathology, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, and the Aerospace Medical Association.
With extensive experience in diagnosing complex skin diseases, she is dedicated to providing accurate, timely diagnoses that guide effective patient care.
Dr. Tarasen lives in Los Angeles, where she serves patients and clinicians both locally and nationally. In addition to her clinical practice, she serves as the medical director for Wulf Hess, a company dedicated to preventing skin cancer in aviation and aerospace.
